Crisis intervention is a deliberately planned short-term psychotherapy that enables the individual to overcome the challenges in coping with the situation that causes psychological distress. This study aims to review the literature on the subject, explore the phases of the crisis intervention model, and identify the ethical issues that underpin effective intervention. Reviews found research literature clearly indicates that providing crisis intervention to women survivors of trauma through community-based intervention programs, group therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioural therapy, and rapid psychological intervention can effectively reduce emotional distress and increase the resilience of the women victims. Concluding these findings, however, there is a need to fill the gaps in the existing crisis intervention models that are sensitive to the socio-cultural factors affecting women victims of trauma.
