Even though occupational stress has been documented in many organizational settings, a few studies have explored the role of positive psychology in mitigating occupational stress. This study aims to explore the impact of positive psychology intervention on stress among information technology professionals. The data was collected from a sample of 60 information technology professionals from various IT companies in Bangalore, India. A Randomized Control Group Pretest – Posttest Design is adopted for the study. A positive psychology intervention package mainly based on savoring, gratitude exercises, and Best Possible Self (BPS) along with self-reflection exercises, stepping and efficacy building was adopted and implemented for 12 weeks as the positive psychology intervention on selected samples. The pre and post-assessment were collected by administering the Occupational Stress Index. The ANCOVA was used in the experimental phase to understand the effect of the positive psychology intervention on the experimental group. The results of the analysis of the data indicate that the occupational stress of the experimental group has been reduced after the positive psychology intervention. This study promoted the idea of cultivating a positive attitude among employees in balancing their job stress.
