The juggernaut of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is unstoppable. In the past few years, it has metamorphosed the world we live in. AI has made great headway in the area of art and science. This paper examines the impact of AI in the field of education and learning. AI can personalise learning, provide one-on-one tutoring, expedite administrative tasks in the education field and facilitate filtering students at a potential risk of failure. AI indeed has the potential to make unprecedented strides, revolutionize education and accelerate the task of achieving quality education for all. However, the adoption of such a transforming technology poses threats of displacing educators and compromising privacy of data. These threats have considerable socio-economic ramifications. Thus, policymakers must involve all stakeholders and experts before framing and adopting any policy that integrates AI into the education sector. The process of embracing AI in education must be guided by the principle of humanistic education that ensures fostering wise, kind, responsible and resilient global citizens.
