This review examines the challenges that special needs children and their families face and strives to highlight the strategies that can be employed to deal with them. It covers various aspects in the same regard, including understanding who are the children with special needs, major disabilities and their types, factors causing disability, and the challenges faced by children with special needs on a personal level and in the educational institutions and their families. The review also covers how special conditions of a child may affect parents and parenting. It also emphasizes principles surrounding designing strategies to assist both children and families in enabling them to cope with the troubles they face. This review concludes that effective approaches and targeted efforts can significantly improve the quality of life of children with special needs and their families.
