Occupational stress is stress involving work. Stress is defined in terms of its physical and physiological effects on a person, and can be a mental, physical or emotional strain. Often a stressor can lead the body to have a physiological reaction which can strain a person physically as well as mentally. A variety of factors contribute to workplace stress such as negative workload, isolation, extensive hours worked, toxic work environments, lack of autonomy, difficult relationships among coworkers and management, management bullying, harassment and lack of opportunities or motivation to advancement in one’s skill level.. This paper deals with effect of occupational role stress on job and life satisfaction of bank employees.. In order to conduct the study, the researcher purposively selected 120 from bank various banks of Delhi/NCR region. All of them were between the age of 25- 45 year. Both males & females were included in the study. Extensive use of interview schedules alongwith the questionnaire was made to collect data which was subsequently analyzed and interpreted both qualitatively and quantitatively. After discussion and elaboration, conclusion was arrived at in a convincing manner. The study revealed that the subjects with lower job satisfaction were found to experience more stress in the form of overload, role ambiguity, role conflict, under participation, powerlessness and low status compared to those with higher job satisfaction.
