Substance use is a worldwide public health issue. Currently, there are various ways at the clinical level to approach this issue however there is no framework that works systematically and keeps in view the person with substance use disorder (PWS). To address this issue, we have adopted a framework that includes focusing on the predisposing, perpetuating, and precipitating factors and applied that to five different substance use cases to conceptualize a model of addiction. Moreover, after finding the role of these factors in substance use behaviour, established intervention methods are given to the person as per his or her required needs then the prognosis is discussed. This provides a useful framework for working with PWS, particularly with the assistance of mental health practitioners mainly counsellors and clinical psychologists.
