The major objective of this paper is to identify significant research gaps on parental challenges and coping methods in autism care. Despite the growing body of literature revealing the emotional, social, and economic challenges suffered by families of children with ASD, significant limitations still exist in the present research landscape. This is particularly evident in methodology, intervention, and policy-making domains. Most of the current research literature predominantly focuses on mothers in especially in Western contexts, neglecting the roles of fathers, siblings, and caregivers from underrepresented regions like Africa and South Asia. The global prevalence of ASD is increasing, requiring an in-depth understanding of family well-being for primary caregivers. The study calls for interdisciplinary and inclusive research methods that explore diverse cultural perceptions, gender-specific caregiving roles, and sibling experiences. The emphasis is on the need for culturally sensitive support systems that are guided by empirical evidence to promote overall understanding about ASD and improve support systems for the concerned families.
