The aim of the study is to inspect the relationship between early maladaptive schemas and anxiety. Early maladaptive schemas (EMS) play an important role in predicting anxiety. All the subjects were administered Young’s Schema Questionnaire-Short Form (1994) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) by Spielberger (1983). A sample of 200 subjects (100 males, 100 females) between the ages of 18 to 25 years were randomly selected from Punjabi University Patiala, Campus. Pearson Product Moment Coefficient and stepwise multiple regression were computed. The results revealed a positive correlation between some domains of early maladaptive schemas (disconnection & rejection, impaired autonomy) and anxiety. While other directedness is inversely correlated with anxiety. Further, disconnection and rejection, impaired autonomy, and other directedness were found to be significant predictors of anxiety.
