In India the prevalence of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) is around 5%-15%. India’s Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act (RPWD Act) has included SLD in the list of disabilities. This legally mandates that there should be provisions for the assessment and certification of all covered conditions, including SLD. This paper aims to understand the school teachers’ awareness about SLD. A systematic review of research papers published from 2017 – 2023 was done. The research papers were searched using the following databases: Google Scholar, Sage Publications, Research Gate, J-Gate, and ScienceDirect. In all total 18 papers were selected. After compiling and organising the data emerging from the review, it was found that the majority of school teachers in India have a moderate level of awareness and knowledge about SLD. It is recommended to spread awareness about SLD among teachers, parents, and school administration through training programs and workshops. The paper clearly pointed that severity of learning disabilities can be significantly reduced through early identification and targeted intervention.
