Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and its prevalence are on the rise. However, there are still diagnostic challenges across the globe that leave many individuals to suffer without diagnosis. The study conceptually tried to portray how there are various challenges of ASD diagnosis and how it is evolving slowly, but more changes are needed. The paper entails the concept of how diagnosis took shape historically and now how the diversity of autism, gender factor, lack of experts, awareness, and stigma are affecting the diagnosis of autism in both developed and developing countries. The study also concludes with a few suggestions on how more culture-specific tests, national surveillance programmes, and more awareness drives can help to combat these challenges.
