Present study investigated the socio economic impacts of coal based thermal power plant i.e Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Power Plant (RGTPP) located in the vicinity of Khedar village, Hisar district of Haryana, India. Objective of the present work is to understand the effect of thermal power plant on the socio-economic conditions of people residing nearby. Parameters of analysis of socio-economic impact were social, education, health, environment and production level which were further divided into sub categories. More than 40% respondents of studied area agree that there was a positive change in their economic, production and social level due to RGTPP. However, majority of the respondents were of view that there are no major environmental impact and health hazards due to RGTPP.
