Our Indian women are capable of doing it as any in the world. – Swami Vivekananda Indian fiction in English has a formidable pool of women novelists. The deeper most concerns of these novelists have been the human relationships, especially the functioning of female psyche .Shashi Deshpande is one of the most prominent voices to deal with such concerns. Shashi Deshpande’s The Dark Hold No Terrors is a remarkable piece of literary work in this regard. The novel was first published in1980; by author admittance is “the one dear to her”. Due to popularity of the novel, it has been translated in to German and Russian.
