The print quality and printability are directly related to the surface properties of the paper. The coated papers have higher printability and print quality as compared to the uncoated paper. Gloss coated paper can give higher quality as compared to the matte coated paper. This research paper is reviewing the different coating material and their effect in printability of paper. The composition also effects the printability of the paper. The study denotes that the GCC, PPC and titanium dioxide are the mainly used coating materials because these are the material which can give higher brightness and whiteness. The paper with average good printability and cheap cost of production the kaolin based coating materials are used. The types coating material may effect the paper chemical, strength properties also.
