The genesis of tourism development in Haryana must be contextualized within the broader economic reforms initiated by India in 1991. Before these reforms, the tourism landscape in Haryana was relatively underdeveloped, constrained by limited infrastructure, lack of connectivity, and the overall regulated economic environment. The liberalization, privatization, and globalization (LPG) policies introduced post-1991 catalyzed a paradigm shift by restructuring urban spaces and facilitating new forms of growth and settlement patterns, which in turn impacted tourism trajectories profoundly.
