The present study aimed to examine the relationship between executive functioning, impulsivity, psychological distress, and internet gaming disorder among young adults. The participants included 120 individuals, comprising 60 women and 60 men from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds in Kerala. The Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11), the Digit Vigilance Test, the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), the Adult Executive Functioning Inventory (ADEXI), and the Internet Gaming Disorder Scale-Short Form (IGDS-9-SF) were administered to the participants. The study’s findings suggest a significant link between executive functioning and internet gaming disorder among young adults. In this study, inhibition is identified as a predictor of internet gaming disorder among young adults.
