In the digital era, technology becomes integrated into the daily lives of all including elders, making it important to investigate how the perceptions and use of technology intersect with intergenerational relationships. With elders often facing challenges in adapting to new digital environments, this study delves into aging and the experiences of young adults (grandchildren) and elders (grandparents) regarding the use of technology in maintaining and enhancing their intergenerational communication. This research employed a qualitative approach, utilising semi-structured interviews to gather data from 22 grandchildren aged 16-21 and 10 old adults aged above 60, focusing on their experiences and perspectives on using technology to communicate with each other. Data were analysed thematically, leading to four key themes – Barriers Faced by the Elderly, Learning Journey Between Generations, Strengthening Bonds and Learning Across Generations, and Enhancing Senior Digital Engagement. The findings indicate that while technology enhances intergenerational connectivity, it also presents challenges for the elderly. Digital technology plays a crucial role in bridging generational gaps, fostering stronger familial relationships. However, to maximise its benefits, there is a need for more accessible and user-friendly technology tailored to the elderly, along with greater support from the younger generation.
