For every subject covered in the National Curriculum Statement, the Learning Program Guidelines, Subject Assessment Guidelines, and Subject and Learning area statements have been superseded by the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement, a single, thorough, and concise policy statement. R-12 grades. Education in South Africa is jointly overseen by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) and the Department of Basic Education (DBE). While the DHET coordinates the Human Resource Development Strategy for South Africa (HRDSSA) and transacts with universities and other post-school, the DBE deals with adult literacy programs and all schools from Grade R to Grade 12 as well as education and training institutes. This study’s National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement. R-12 grades goal is to investigate gaps that are existing between the policies of the DBE and DHET in South Africa. The research has been executed based on the perceived change in the curriculum score point in Higher Education, whereas the higher education or universities have not reviewed their AP scores. The research will attempt to find out if was there a need to upgrade/downgrade the AP scores also if was helpful in comparison with the previous policies. Research data collection will utilise secondary data, which is the previous policies on the AP scores in comparison with the current AP score on assessment policies. Findings are not only the perceived psychological impact on the students who are about to enter higher education and training but also the increased number of students who are not in higher education to execute higher learning. Recommendations will find a way to recommend the suggestions to the policy makers to balance the assessment policies i.e., curriculum AP scores with the DHET policies to enable the proper progression of the education in general.
