Packaging is the technique of using most appropriate containers and component to protect, carry, identify and merchandise any product. Due to ever increasing population especially the urban population and rising living standards of people the demands for the packaged dairy products are rising rapidly since the past decade. To meet these demands it becomes inevitable to preserve the products in safe and healthy conditions and this can be achieved only through proper packaging. As the shelf life of the unpacked dairy products are very short the only way to protect their hygiene and keep them safe from various environmental, microbiological, handling and transportation hazards is packaging. In this paper the study has been carried out to investigate about the factors influencing the shelf life of the curd in plastic cups and the possible measures taken to enhance the shelf life of the curd cups.
