The endless customization possibilities ensure that decorations on apparel and accessories are constantly in trend. By adding ornamental patterns, fabric embellishments are used to enhance the beauty and appeal of textiles. The fabric is adorned with a variety of surface patterning techniques and materials, such as buttons, beads, fringe, and ribbons. Textile ornamentation satisfies the human need for a visually beautiful and meaningful life, even though it may not immediately affect clothes and home textiles’ ability to protect us from the weather or meet our everyday domestic requirements. Among the various embellishing techniques, tie-dye is a very well-liked and exquisite approach to give a cloth more visual appeal. Tie-dying is a hand dyeing technique whereby several pieces of material are gathered and securely tied with thread before the cloth is submerged in the dye water to create colored patterns. The knotted parts are not penetrated by the dye. The cloth is untied to expose a pattern of uneven dots, stripes, and circles when dried. Repeated tying and dipping in different colors can result in multicolored patterns. Thus in this paper we will learnt about the surface enrichment technique which is very unique for coloring the garments. In this paper we will have a close look at the different techniques of tie & dye. It is one of the most love and fun to do fabric painting.
