Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force reshaping diverse industries, including recruitment. AI-powered technologies are increasingly integrated into recruitment processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customization. Higher institutions of learning in South Africa’s Limpopo province have shown a growing interest in AI-driven recruitment solutions. This study aimed to determine the influence of AI technology on e-recruitment at higher institutions of learning in the Limpopo province. The study employed the purposive sampling method for non-probability sampling. The research employed the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to understand the influence of AI on e-recruitment. TAM examines factors like perceived usefulness and ease of use, indicating that positive perceptions can drive intentions and subsequent usage. The study focused on the perceptions of stakeholders within higher institutions, using interpretivism as its research philosophy to delve into the nuanced subjective experiences related to AI adoption. By employing interpretive methodologies such as in-depth interviews and thematic analysis, the study aimed to provide insights into how AI technology influences e-recruitment in the Limpopo higher education sector. Building upon the qualitative analysis conducted, the study unearthed several critical findings. Efficiency enhancement emerged as a consistent theme, showcasing AI’s transformative impact on various aspects of the e-recruitment process. The integration of AI was found to streamline candidate screening, increase overall process efficiency, and prompt a shift towards strategic tasks for HR professionals.
