The study aims to assess the skill and capacity levels of the respondents, understand their career aspirations, and propose suitable social work intervention models to enhance professional competence. A descriptive research design was adopted for the study, and purposive sampling was used to select 65 nursing care workers from the state of Karnataka. Data were collected to evaluate existing skills, capacity-building needs, and career aspirations related to nursing practice and performance. The findings reveal that the majority of respondents exhibit an average level of career aspiration, and their existing skill sets are not adequately aligned with the professional demands of nursing practice. The results also indicate that respondents from rural backgrounds demonstrate higher levels of empathetic-approach, and female respondents constitute a significant proportion of the sample. These findings highlight the presence of gaps between professional expectations and actual skill preparedness among nursing care workers. Based on the findings, the study proposes a self-consciousness approach and an individual-centered social work intervention model to strengthen skill development and capacity building among nursing care workers. The study emphasizes the importance of integrating social work interventions into health care training and professional development to improve service delivery and enhance the quality of patient care.
