Games are an important aspect of human’s lives. Although many adults have forgotten how to play, for children it is one of the main activities throughout the days. In a game, a child gets the opportunity for his self-realization and way to reduce the stress. The idea of using games in teaching does not seem to be widely accepted and implemented yet, although its profitability and necessity has been proposed and justified. Even psychologists say that learning should be a pleasurable and rewarding experience. Children tend to learn more when they are tension free. They can do and learn things better with the help of games. Language can also be learnt through games i.e. language games. So, this article is an attempt to study the role of language games in English Language Teaching or Second Language Acquisition.
