Haryana’s traditional dress and ornaments represent a vibrant cultural heritage deeply intertwined with its history, climate, and social structures. The traditional attire, including the ghagra, Odhni, kurta, dhoti, and pagdi, and ornaments such as hansli, nath, jhumka, and payal, have historically served as markers of identity, social status, and regional affiliation. However, modernization, urbanization, and the influence of global fashion trends have contributed to the gradual decline of these traditional elements. This research explores the evolution, transformation, and contemporary status of Haryana’s traditional dress and ornaments. It examines the socio-cultural significance of these items, the reasons for their diminishing presence, and ongoing efforts to revive and preserve them.
