Regional disparity is not merely a modern phenomenon; its origins can be traced back to ancient civilisations. The discourse surrounding equality and equitable opportunities for all necessitates the comprehensive advancement of each individual within society. Nonetheless, many substantial factors engender regional disparities, encompassing geographical variation, economic endeavours, social and religious affiliations, and cultural traditions. Such disparities adversely impact the development of individuals, collectives, and communities, ultimately impeding the overall progression of a nation. Education constitutes one of society’s most potent instruments for alleviating vulnerability and deprivation. It enhances earning prospects, enables labour mobility, promotes the health of parents and children, and diminishes fertility and child mortality rates. Allocating resources to education can empower individuals and communities, significantly elevating the quality of life. Ensuring universal access to high-quality education is imperative for augmenting the Human Development Index (HDI) and realising sustainable development goals (SDGs). This paper comprehensively reviews secondary data to explore the factors contributing to educational disparities nationwide and examines their impact on social development.
