Paperboard packaging is one of the important steps towards creating awareness of people about the eco- friendly packaging which is demand of today. The people awareness and concerns are increasing about the environment and they are using eco-friendly packaging products which have an impact on the market for paper & paperboard products. Paperboard is the most environmental friendly packaging material whose demand is increasing very rapidly. Paperboard is a thick paper-based material and safe for environment. Recent trend shows that paperboard packaging like cartons has become very popular among the new generation with its good strength properties and better print quality. Paperboard packaging found wherever goods are produced, distributed, marketed and used. More youth attract towards the cartons if print quality of cartons is fine and attractive. Offset process, Flexographic process, Screen process and Gravure printing processes are the main printing process which uses for printing various paperboard cartons. With the help of this study, it is found that the recent trends in eco-friendly paperboard packaging are increasing people awareness and concerns about environment and plays an important role in saving environment with its number of eco – packaging applications.
