Despite the fact that globalisation is accelerating progress, it is also increasing socio-economic complexity and in today’s world, stress is unavoidable. Stress has progressively become a fairly regular occurrence in daily life and an inevitable result of how society has developed. It has been related to a variety of areas of the working world. Various job or work role pressures have an impact on people’s careers, happiness and well-being. Organisational role stress can have an impact on how satisfied a person is with his job overall. It primarily occurs from conflicting, overlapping, or ambiguous job expectations, or from having too many roles to play at once. Role stress is studied on the basis of its ten dimensions based on a role stress scale developed to study its extent through various statements. The aim of this paper is to provide a comprehensive view of organisational role stress and its various dimensions. A critical and constructive analysis of the literature is done on all the ten dimensions of the scale. A healthy work environment can reduce the organisational role stress among employees where as a high level of role stress can negatively impact the employee well-being and overall working of the organisation.
