To promote financial performance and shareholder value, occupational safety and health (OSH) risk management strategies must be sound and long-lasting. The number of research enquiries on OSH risk governance in many subject areas worldwide has increased during the last three decades. The purpose of this study is to examine OSH research using bibliometric analysis (BA) and Scopus databases, as well as to provide an overview of its current state and gain insights into the development patterns of research fields through the existing literature. Furthermore, the study aims to identify keyword trends, relevant trends in OSH risk governance studies, and future research trends using scientific methods. The research focuses on author network collaborations, journals, annual production, and significant OSH risk governance publications to add to the current literature. The study used BA to assess the scope of OSH risk governance research conducted between 1975 and 2025, as selected from the Scopus databases, and a total of 9075 articles were published. The institution with the highest publications in OSH between 1975 and 2025 is the Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (n=235). The United States (US) has a substantial influence in the field of occupational safety and health research. In terms of subject area, the medical fraternity recorded the highest number of publications (n=5075) in OSH risk management governance. Future studies are encouraged to advance systematic novelties, investigate emerging risks (psychosocial risks), and consolidate worldwide collaborations to advance OSH management and integrate biological, chemical, and physical risks.
