Minimalism, often described as a lifestyle focused on intentional living and simplicity, is gaining recognition for its potential benefits in promoting psychological well-being. This study aims to explore the influence of minimalism on the quality of life among older adults who actively practice this lifestyle. A qualitative research design was employed using semi-structured, in-depth interviews with 15 older adults aged 50 and above who had adopted minimalist living for at least five years. A thematic analysis approach was used to identify core patterns across the participants lived experiences. The findings revealed that participants experienced several psychosocial benefits from minimalism, including emotional resilience, enhanced mental clarity, spiritual growth, improved physical well-being, and a deeper sense of community and belonging. Participants described minimalism as a purposeful shift that allowed them to let go of material attachments, manage stress more effectively, and live with greater intentionality and satisfaction. The study highlights minimalism as a meaningful and potentially transformative lifestyle for older adults, particularly during later-life transitions. It emphasizes the role of minimalist practices in enhancing holistic well-being, offering insights for professionals working with aging populations. The results contribute to the growing body of knowledge on lifestyle choices and aging, underlining the emotional and psychosocial significance of simpler living.
