Environmental conditions of the locality perceived as stressful can have a substantial impact on one’s well-being, resulting in physical health problems, mental health concerns, and reduced quality of life. To address these stressors and to provide a comprehensive understanding the present study aimed to assess the relationship between Perceived Environmental Stressors and Well-being among adults. The data were collected from dwellers residing in slum and non-slum areas in Delhi-NCR between December 2021 and January 2022. The instruments used were: Perceived Environmental Stressors Scale and Personal Well-being Index. We used correlational analyses to test the hypotheses. As hypothesized, the constraints present in the physical environment (i.e., noise, crowding, garbage, traffic and pollution) perceived as stressful had a significant impact on subjective well-being among adults (β = -.37, p <.001). Based on these results, we expect to facilitate risk assessors and public health practitioners to understand better how environmental dangers and perceptions of those risks interact and impact a community’s well-being.
