This study was conducted in 2022-23 in Hisar and Karnal districts of Haryana to assess the awareness among farmers regarding the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme. Data revealed that since the implementation of the PM Kisan scheme centrally, all the installments were released quarterly in all the states. Total funds transferred to registered farmers in Haryana were consistent and on time with a growth rate of 25.2 percent in the 13th instalment. The research involved an in-depth analysis of various socio-demographic factors such as age, education, caste, income, and mass media exposure, which influence farmers’ knowledge and participation in the scheme. Further, the study also explored the utilization of funds credited under the PM-KISAN scheme examining how the financial assistance was used for agricultural activities and household needs such as for the purchase of HY seeds (13.5%), fertilizers, etc. (9.9%) followed by 6.2% on social ceremonies. Additionally, the paper highlights the key constraints faced by farmers, including limited awareness, and issues related to fund disbursement and accessibility. The study emphasizes the need for enhanced outreach to improve the effectiveness of the PM-KISAN scheme, thereby ensuring that the benefits reach the intended farmers efficiently. These insights contribute to the understanding of PM-KISAN’s impact and suggest measures to strengthen its implementation at the grassroots level.
