The present investigation entitled “Management of herbicide resistant Phalaris minor and broad leaf weeds by sequential applications of pre and post-emergence herbicides in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)” was studied at Agronomy research farm, Hisar during rabi and kharif season of 2021-22 and 2022-23 in order to evaluate the efficacy of different pre and post-emergence herbicides against herbicide resistant Phalaris minor and broad leaf weeds in wheat. The field experiment was carried out in Rabi 2021-22 and 2022-23 at Agronomy Research Farm CCS HAU Hisar with 17 treatments, viz., PRE pendimethalin (1500 g ha-1), PRE metribuzin (210 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin+ pyroxasulfone (1500+127.5 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin fb POST mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron (1500 fb 14.4 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin fb POST sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron (RM) (1500 fb 32 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin fb POST pinoxaden + metribuzin (TM) (1500 fb 50+105 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin fb POST clodinafop + metribuzin (RM) (1500 fb 174 g ha-1), PRE metribuzin fb POST mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron (RM) (210 fb 14.4 g ha-1), PRE metribuzin fb POST sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron (RM) (210 fb 32 g ha-1), PRE metribuzin fb POST pinoxaden + metribuzin (TM) (210 fb 50+105 g ha-1), PRE metribuzin fb POST clodinafop + metribuzin (RM) (210 fb 174 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin+ pyroxasulfone fb POST mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron (RM) (1500+127.5 fb 14.4 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin+ pyroxasulfone fb POST sulfosulfuron + metsulfuron (RM) (1500+127.5 fb 32 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin + pyroxasulfone fb POST pinoxaden + metribuzin (TM) (1500+127.5 fb 50+105 g ha-1), PRE pendimethalin + pyroxasulfone fb POST clodinafop + metribuzin (RM) (1500+127.5 fb 174 g ha-1), weed free and weedy check in RBD with three replications. Major weed species infesting the experimental field were Phalaris minor, Chenopodium album, Anagallis arvensis, Rumex dentatus, and Melilotus indica. The treatment PRE pendimethalin + pyroxasulfone fb POST pinoxaden + metribuzin (TM) provided excellent control of Phalaris minor broad leaf weeds at harvest stage of the wheat crop with higher weed control efficiency, and herbicide efficiency index during both year of experimentation. Maximum biological yield of wheat was obtained in weed free treatment which was statistically at par with PRE pendimethalin + pyroxasulfone fb POST mesosulfuron + iodosulfuron (RM).
