Innovative behavior is crucial for organizational growth and competitive advantage. Psychological capital (PsyCap), which includes hope, optimism, resilience, and self-efficacy, has been identified as a potential catalyst for innovation. This narrative review summarizes the results of previous research and investigates the connection between PsyCap and creative activity. There is evidence to suggest that innovative behavior is more common among those who establish ambitious goals and create many routes to accomplish them. Optimism fosters a positive outlook, encouraging persistence in the face of setbacks, while resilience enables recovery from failures, maintaining the momentum of innovation. Self-efficacy boosts confidence in one’s ability to generate and implement novel ideas. An integrative model suggests that these PsyCap components interact synergistically to enhance innovation. Practical implications include targeted interventions to enhance PsyCap and creating supportive organizational environments that encourage risk-taking and recognize creative efforts. Future research should investigate the longitudinal effects of PsyCap on innovation and explore the mechanisms through which it operates. This review underscores the importance of fostering PsyCap to cultivate an innovative workforce and achieve sustained competitive advantage.
