The Ruminative Response Scale (RRS-10) was a long-established and popular mechanism implemented to measure rumination i.e. cycle of negative thoughts leading toward depression and other mental disorders. The version of this scale in Hindi is still not available, the purpose of the current study is to adapt the RSS in the Hindi language and, further, to validate it in the Indian setting. The Sample of the current study was 200 respondents. The purposive sampling method was adopted. The age range of the participants was 2055 years. Psychometric properties, as well as the factor structures of the scale, were evaluated. The Hindi version of the RRS-10 has adequate internal consistencies (r = 0.8730.86), and value of reliability indices i.e. split-half and Cronbach’s alpha.832 and .862 respectively. The concurrent validity of this scale was also high. The item’s total coefficient of correlation is .526. The exploratory factor analysis revealed a single factor. The quality of goodness of fit index for single factor model was also obtained relatively requisite (RMSEA=0.13; TLI=.80; CFI=.84, GFI= .87; AGFI=.79; RMR=.06; SRMR=.07). The Hindi version of the RRS-10 is a reliable and valid psychometric tool to measure rumination in the general population.
