The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to improve global quality of life through specific, measurable objectives, including the promotion of gender equality. SDG5 targets gender-based discrimination issues such as violence, reproductive rights, and unpaid labour, recognizing their interconnectedness with poverty eradication, food security, and economic growth. Rural women entrepreneurs are increasingly pivotal in achieving these goals, contributing significantly to local economies and community development. However, they face unique challenges, including gender bias, limited access to resources, and societal pressures. Despite governmental initiatives, barriers persist, hindering the full realization of their potential. This conceptual paper reviews existing literature on rural women entrepreneurship, emphasizing the need to study their quality of life (QOL). While much research focuses on financial literacy and barriers, psychological factors influencing QOL remain underexplored, particularly in the Indian context. Understanding QOL is crucial for recognizing the contributions of rural women entrepreneurs, increasing awareness, and addressing gender inequalities. By identifying factors affecting resilience and psychological well-being, tailored support mechanisms can be developed to prevent burnout, promote well-being, and measure progress. The study of QOL informs policy and support initiatives, guiding the design of interventions that address the specific needs of rural women entrepreneurs. It emphasizes the importance of capacity-building programs and empowerment efforts to enhance their decision-making power and contribute to sustainable rural development. Ultimately, understanding and improving QOL among rural women entrepreneurs is essential for achieving SDG5 and fostering inclusive economic growth.
