Adolescent growth is greatly impacted by the quality of friendships, which has an impact on social adjustment, emotional health, and self-esteem. This study investigates the relationship between self-esteem and friendship quality among Indian boarding school students. The study used the Friendship Qualities Scale (FQS) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) to evaluate important relational variables in a sample of 60 teenage girls (ages 15-18) from a Rajasthani boarding school. The results demonstrate that friendship quality and self-esteem are significantly positively correlated (r = 0.263, p <.05), with larger correlations seen for particular features like aid (r = 0.290, p <.05). On the other hand, self-esteem is adversely correlated with friendship conflict (r = -0.286, p <.05). These findings highlight how crucial it is to cultivate positive peer interactions to boost teenage self-esteem, further emphasizing the need for school-based interventions to strengthen positive friendship attributes while mitigating relational conflict.
