Every year, approximately 60,000 soldiers, who are extremely committed, trained, disciplined, and talented at working in difficult situations, retire and enter civilian life in order to maintain the Indian Army’s youthful profile. The differential settings of military and civilian lifestyles may require adjustment changes that may result in a sense of disenchantment affecting their well-being. The study gathers an understanding of possible concerns and dilemmas of Prospective Army retirees by exploring their perspective on the post-retirement life of an Indian Army retiree. An exploratory research design was adopted with a sample size of 15 using a convenient sampling technique. Respondents were chosen from the Maratha regiment, Belgaum, Karnataka. Inclusion criteria were fixed by only interviewing armed personnel below officer ranks, i.e., Persons Below Officer Rank (PBORs). The study at the end highlights the pressing need for a second career option post-retirement for a smoother transition of Army retirees.
