India is a varied agricultural region with favourable conditions for growing a large range of crops. The traditional agricultural crops provided a launching pad for other crops as well. The impetus later was seen with vegetable crops and usage of drip irrigation system which was claimed to be a game-changer for the farmers. The present study was conducted in three districts of Haryana to examine the farmers’ understanding of water conservation and the challenges they confront while using a drip irrigation system for vegetable cultivation. The results showed that an overwhelming majority were aware of water conservation techniques such as Drip irrigation systems (100.0%), rainwater harvesting (88.75%), Mulching/ reduced evaporation (83.75%), Laser levelling (73.75%), Preventing leakage/wastage of water (70.00%) and Agroforestry/any other (63.75%). The constraints and challenges have been well documented under the financial, technical, and geographical areas which provide a holistic picture of the extent of constraints in the state of Haryana for the vegetable crops.
