The present study aims to assess the level of mental adjustment to cancer in cancer patients. The study was administered to100 cancer patients from Jawaharlal Nehru Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, Bhopal (MP). The assessment was carried out through a 40-item “Mental Adjustment to Cancer” (MAC) scale, consisting of five areas that is, Fighting spirit, Fatalism, Anxious preoccupation, Helplessness/Hopelessness, and Avoidance. Demographical details were also recorded such as age, gender, educational and occupational status, type of family, chief complaints, marital status, and monthly income. Correlation method was used for the evaluation and individual values, including the demographical variables were estimated. The results suggested that gender, age, educational qualification, family size, and occupational status did not impact the mental adjustment of the patients. However, income was found to greatly affect the level of mental adjustment and lead to financial burden (p<0.05).
