The agricultural and allied sector plays a valuable role in the Indian economy as the rural population depends on agriculture for their livelihood. Different agricultural allied activities are being done in India in which fisheries are one of the important, emerging and profitable agricultural allied sectors in India. Today, the fisheries are being done not only in the southern part of India but also northern parts of India. The present study analyzed the cost and returns of inland fish production in the Sirsa district of Haryana, India. The result of the study showed that inland fish farming is an economically viable occupation for fish farmers with a cost-benefit ratio range between 1:0.18 to 1:0.41. The study highlighted that the total cost of fish production for small farms was higher compared to the other farms. The highest net returns were received by large farms followed by medium and small farms. The overall average net income earned by the farmers was Rs. 80117.01 per acre which showed that fish farming is a profitable enterprise. The study analysis indicated that there are necessary to develop infrastructure to maximize the potential of fish farming in the state.
