Violence among children has always been a topic of interest to many social scientists, and bullying behavior has grown out of this field. Bullying has been for many years a vastly researched area in other countries and is now a very quickly growing topic of interest in social research in the United States. The prevalence of school bullying has been investigated in many countries and victimization rates range from 5 percent to 41.6 percent depending on the instrument and method employed, as well as the sample involved. In almost all countries, most of the bullying targeted against primary and secondary school children takes the form of ‘general name calling’. Other common types are relational and physical bullying.
