Print Sharpness Analysis of Coated and Uncoated Paper Stock in Sheet-Fed Offset and Dry Toner Based Digital Printing

Print sharpness has been point of strong attention among printers. No any instrument has been introduced to measure print sharpness till now. In the present research work the human visualization factor has been introduced to quantify print sharpness in sheet fed offset and digital printing process. The standard observer method was used to quantify print sharpness in sheet fed offset printing process and dry toner based digital printing process on uncoated and coated papers. The results indicated that print sharpness was more in digital printing process especially on gloss coated paper. But sheet-fed offset printed uncoated paper imparted least print sharpness.
