Intellectual capital and its impact on improving an organization’s performance are recognized as essential activities. As companies need to move towards the practices that help in achieving competitive advantage increases, both managerial and academic interest in these areas has become important to be considered. Many researchers have focused on studying the intellectual capital concept collectively and its components, like human capital, structural capital and relational capital individually. They also contribute ideas regarding how these practices improve performance in the long-term perspective. As a result of this, a systematic literature review using bibliometric analysis was conducted to analyze deeply trends and developments related to intellectual capital and organizational performance. For this, 101 accurate data points were derived from the Web of Science database, falling within the time span of 1999 to 2025. The analysis was conducted using the Biblioshiny R package, focusing on an overview of data, publications per year, most relevant sources, sources production over time, most relevant authors, most cited countries, trend topics, and world cloud. The review enables us to understand that there is a significant growth in the research area during 2017. Further majority of research output was found in the most relevant journal- Journal of Intellectual Capital, and from the country of China. Along with “intellectual capital” and “organizational performance”, “innovation” was found to be a trending topic. Even though this area is of great significance, our country India has limited focus, which is a great drawback.
