The present study was aimed to assess the determinants of psychological hardiness among urban and rural adolescents in Ludhiana district of Punjab state. The sample was comprised of 360 school going adolescents (16-18 years) which were selected randomly from Government Senior Secondary Schools of Ludhiana city. A personal information sheet was used to gather data on the demographic profiles of the respondents. The HARDY scale developed by Bartone (1989) was employed to evaluate the psychological hardiness in adolescents. The analysis indicated significant differences based on locale, showing that major proportion of respondents exhibited medium levels of psychological hardiness. Among the total sample, urban girls scored significantly higher in the challenge and commitment dimensions of psychological hardiness compared to rural girls. Additionally, the differences based on locale indicated that more urban boys than rural boys fell into the medium level of overall psychological hardiness, while a greater number of rural boys were classified at the high level of psychological hardiness compared to urban boys.
