Crop residue management is an effective strategy that relies on reducing the intensity and frequency of tillage operations and increasing the amount of nutrients in the soil. The main intention of this study is to identify the limitations faced by farmers in the adoption of crop residue management technologies. The study was conducted on 240 farmers of Fatehabad and Karnal districts of Haryana state who had already adopted any kind of crop residue management technology except residue burning. Data were collected through a well-arranged and pre tested schedule. The present study disclosed that more than half of the respondents belonged to age the group of 36 -50 years, and a larger number of respondents were educated up to matriculation. The majority of farmers engaged in farming as their main occupation, and half of the farmers had moderate annual income, socio- economic status, machinery possession and extension contacts. Overwhelming majority of farmers faced production related limitation, viz.,’ narrow window and Unwilling to put extra effort for composting. Among the economic limitations, high cost of labor and machinery used in CRM was at the top. About marketing limitations, i.e., cheap-price of paddy straw was very genuine with rank 1st followed by the shortage of guidance for proper marketing and distance location of the industry from the village with rank 2nd and 3rd respectively.
