The research explores the multifaceted challenges faced by women agricultural labourers in Haryana, India, emphasizing their critical yet undervalued contributions to agricultural productivity and rural development. Based on a study of 140 respondents from Jhajjar and Fatehabad districts, the findings reveal significant social, economic, psychological, and health-related adversities. Social issues such as gender discrimination, limited education, and inadequate healthcare persist alongside economic struggles like wage disparities, informal employment, and resource inequities. Psychological stress and physical health problems, exacerbated by harsh working conditions, further hinder their well-being. The paper advocates a multidimensional approach to address systemic inequalities, promote gender inclusivity, and enhance access to resources and support systems, emphasizing the importance of empowering women labourers for sustainable agricultural development.
