These days, personality features are a highly relevant topic of conversation. Previous studies have revealed a connection between teenage academic achievement and personality factors across many ethnic groups and nations. This study set out to look into the connection between personality traits and academic performance of teenagers as well as to look into how gender affects academic achievement. A sample of 400 students (both girls & boys) of (15-19 years) age range from different schools in Varanasi completed the questionnaires that included the NEO-FFI-60 Five Personality Factor Inventory (NEO-FFI) by Costa and McCrae (1992) and previous annual school examinations percentages are reported as academic achievement. Results of the study showed that personality traits would be positively associated with academic performance. It is also clear from this paper that there is a significant difference between girls and boys in academic performance. The detailed results have been discussed in light of the existing theories and literature.
