The state of Haryana has made great strides in bringing the Education for all programme to fruition. Free and mandatory education for all children in India between the ages of six and fourteen has been established as a fundamental right through the implementation of a number of significant initiatives and legislation. The education system in India has received a much-needed boost from programmes like Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Right to Education (RTE). The government of Haryana is committed to ensuring that all of its citizens have access to a high-quality education and has implemented a number of programmes to that end, like the scheme for the welfare of school children belonging to SC families, the Cheerag scheme, Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, etc. Though it has greatly increased enrolment rates in elementary education across the country and in Haryana in particular, issues remain and must be addressed. This paper’s overarching concern is with Haryana’s current strategies for making SDG 4’s emphasis on quality education relevant to the state’s specific context through their incorporation into the formulation of a new education policy. It investigates the trends in education attainment at the primary, secondary, and tertiary levels in Haryana, as well as the main challenges facing the quality of education and accessibility difficulties within the education sector.
